University of Toronto – The Global Citizenship Challenge
The Global Citizenship Challenge is a one-week intensive experience in team-building and problem-solving for motivated students aged 15-17 ready to take on real-world problems. Guided by program instructors, participants will study essential principles of teamwork and design thinking.
Research and understanding of a situation from multiple perspectives.
Identify and critically analyze interests and bias in media reporting.
Conduct online research and evaluate sources for reliability, relevance and validity.
University Ready: Academic demands on university students and strategies for success.
Students are supported throughout the course by real-time interaction with instructors and facilitators.
At the end of the course, students will present their solutions to program staff, community leaders, and family and friends.
In order to receive the course certificate, students must complete all assigned work. They must also make an active and identifiable contribution to their final group project. All work must be their own, and correctly attributed and paraphrased where appropriate. Plagiarized work will be considered incomplete, and will be returned to the student to re-do.
